Learning#1—The School Days

So, I have studied in a total of 3 schools. I changed them after 4-5 years max. Not out of choice. I really liked the schools/hostels in which I did study. The teachers, facilities, opportunities, students, etc. were all good. The overall experience was also kind of good and memorable. One which even if I wanted to, I can’t shake off.
But, as far as learning from my mistakes goes, it is only now that I realise that my school days and my school experience could have been so much more!
To set the record right, I am kind of talented in many fields. What it comes down to basically is that I am a fast learner. I am good in sports, debating, writing, art, music, etc… I could do all of these—could but kind of didn’t. But what I didn’t realise was that I should have done something which I wanted to do. Something which would totally benefit me later on.
When you are a kid, you have the right to explore and learn all the way. I could too. What I failed to do was to explore… and that is a real sin which is costly in the future.
So, instead of beating around the bush and wavering from the topic, which I tend to do a lot, let’s get down to the learning—-
  1. Being in a school is like being provided with a platform. A platform for focusing majorly on 3 things—KSA—knowledge(application based), skills(hard and soft), and attitude(respect, empathy, love, care, share).
  2. What I could and should have focused on was—reading, writing, speaking(debating, MUNs), listening(networking, stories)—-RWLS + sports(since I was very good at it), some other fun activity(music, painting, etc.)
  3. Thinking fast and slow is very important—which for me it means to think for both short and long-term—-in the short term I had to focus on my personality development(through RWLS+sports+KSA) and in the long term I had to decide where do I want to be, in which field do I want to go.
I kind of messed up my short and long-term opportunities and goals. I didn’t realise and value the platform that I had been provided with. I could develop my personality and my network. I also didn’t realise my passion until now—MARKETING.
So, I guess it is very important to realise your passion, the earlier the better, and once you do realise it, RUN after it! Developing soft and hard skills, focusing on KSA always helps.
